April 19th, and this trip was a bit of a disappointment at first. Everything is shrouded in a haze. After a while, it lifts and the sun takes over the task of ruining my shots. Must be time to go back to school to learn to use the camera, and manually set the shots.
This bird had me stumped for a while. When I got closer, I could see it was really an old "admiral" standing on a sand bar, and guarding the flock of younger birds.
I called a few times to Ellie, just to keep her honest. We are running without a leash, at least until we encounter other humans and canines. Ellie does not chase geese, and they seem to know it. They don't trust me, however.

These two birds watched us warily, allowing the dog to move in very, very close. You can see that Ellie just ignores them. Her experiences with geese are few and always uneventful. They generate no excitement for her.
Oops! Here are some fisherman with their own dogs. This fuzzy fellow is sticking strictly close to his master.
Two fisherwomen, enjoying the early morning sunshine. April 1 was opening day, and it was miserable, compounded by an apparent lack of fish. There were fish for the taking at a few places specially stocked, but this year had sent many First Dayers home empty handed.

We saw many more fishermen on today's jaunt, but with Ellie running with me, it was necessary to give them their space and peace.
